2. Malaga Airport to Nerja with a Rented Car

Travelling by car is probably one of the easiest transport options as you can rent a car and pick it up directly from the airport.

The drive from Malaga airport to Nerja is a pretty easy one, following the coastal highway number A-7. The highway goes around the centre of Malaga so you will avoid any heavy traffic and then follows along the coast through Torre del Mal and Torrox directly to Nerja.

The journey is approximately 72 kilometres long and will take around 50 minutes to 1 hour to travel, depending on the traffic.

There is no train network running beyond Malaga on the coastline. The trains from the airport run to Malaga Maria Zambrano from where you can take a connection by bus directly to Nerja.

4. Malaga Airport to Nerja by Bus

Direct Bus from Malaga Airport to Nerja

There is only one direct bus connection from the airport to Nerja, which goes once a day at 2.30pm. The tickets can be bought in advance on Omio website .

The bus starts at Malaga airport and then stops at Malaga bus station, Puerto Malaga, Torre del Mar and Nerja.

From the airport, you need to get the bus from the main bus pickup point which is called Terminal de Carga V, marked on the map below. There are also signs for the bus stop around the airport arrivals.

If you would like to have more bus connection options, you will have to get to the main bus station in Malaga.

You can get there using the speedy frequent C-1 commuter train which runs every 20 minutes and get off at Malaga Maria Zambrano.

The bus station is just across the road from the train station. The access to the train station is just a short walk away from the arrivals terminal hall. The journey by train will take under 10 minutes.

The other option is using local buses from the airport to the main bus station in Malaga. The bus number M-135 runs a frequent service between the airport and the main station.
