Malaga to Cordoba Train Transport Guide

Malaga has really good train connections to Cordoba, with a number of trains leaving Malaga Maria Zambrano daily. The trains are very comfortable and convenient to use, and you can buy your tickets online in advance.

MALAGA TO CORDOBA TRAIN TICKETS

There are several different price points available for train tickets from Malaga to Cordoba. The train fare is not static and changes depending on the season, the type of connection and the availability of the trains.

In general, the trains with longer travel time, booked far in advance (a few weeks) or those in the off-peak times tend to be cheaper.

The train to Cordoba is serviced by the national rail company – Renfe, which operates the standard trains and then also the Renfe AVE trains.

TRAVEL TIME

The travel time varies depending on which connection you take, as some of the trains stop more often than others. All of these trains are direct trains, with no change required.

The shortest travel time is 49 minutes and the longer trains are 1 hr 9 minutes.

MALAGA TO CORDOBA TRAIN FACILITIES

The trains are modern and well equipped, with toilets, plenty of space for luggage storage and even sockets next to your seats.

The bigger trains also tend to have a restaurant carriage in the middle.

BOARDING THE TRAIN

After you purchase your train tickets, there is no need to print them – all you need is the QR code from the PDF ticket. You can save it on your phone and show it at the train station.

For most train journeys, the rail companies require that you present your ID together with your ticket, so don’t forget to bring it with you when you board the train.

As you arrive in Malaga Maria Zambrano, you can head straight to the gates in the middle section of the station. Right in front of it is a security scan where you place your luggage for scanning and pass through the airport-style security gate.

After that, they will check your tickets at the booth by the entrance to the platform and you’re free to board the train.

If you have spare time in Malaga, there is plenty to do in the station.

The train station has many clothing shops, restaurants, cafes and even a big supermarket. Right at the center is a kiosk with magazines and books, with a small selection also in the English language. There are also small gift shops and free toilets.

CORDOBA TRAIN STATION

The train station is a decent size with similar facilities to Malaga, although not as many. There is a taxi rank outside of the station.
