If you like delicious food and a great view, there is one place where you will find both – Muse Restaurant.
Discovered only in winter last year, this well-hidden gem sits on a top of a cliff in central Paphos, near the Town Hall, offering undisturbed views of the town and harbor. My Greek teacher recommended a visit and since we ventured there the first time, we have returned on many occasions and never left disappointed.
The restaurant has a generous outside area with lots of waiters buzzing around, people chatting, glasses clashing and the most delicious food tempting your senses. You end up spying on the other guests’ meals and see what you will order next time you visit. I have to admit I have fallen into a trap of ordering the same favorite on a number of occasions – salmon dish with two varieties – one with clams and saffron, another basic one with vegetables and rice. Both absolutely delicious.
There is plenty of parking space outside the area and also at the back, but if you venture there this summer, there are roadworks around so you might need to find an alternative route to access it.
Take a seat by the edge of the terrace to enjoy the best views of the sunset, but bear in mind its best too book a table in advance even if you want to go for dinner in the middle of the week.
There is a small walkway to take pictures of the sunset and enjoy the view from closer.
The menu is pretty standard, some sandwiches, burgers, salads, grilled meat, fish and a selection of desserts – but executed to perfection. If you live in Paphos, that’s not something you take for granted, trust me! =)
We ordered a variety of dishes, first one below is a pork. I love how they add a bit of personality to what would otherwise be boring chips – they serve them as rings on a stick, and they taste as delicious as they look.
Second dish is pasta with scallops and very generous Parmesan shavings, very filling and soooo tasty! After salmon my second favorite menu choice. (it normally comes with pancetta, but I don’t eat meat so I asked them to leave it out)
Third one was a Cowboy burger with potatoes and small side salad, with a ton of cheese melted on the top of the meat.
Cocktails are of course also on the menu, this exotic looking one is not mojito but Hugo – Prosecco cocktail with mint and elderflower, I need to find a recipe somewhere, it’s so refreshing!
Another dish from the menu is the chicken kebab, according to the waiters one of the most popular options from the menu.
And last but not least, my favorite salmon. This is the plain one, the other option comes with saffron rice and scallops.
Getting hungry just by looking at the pictures.
Are you tempted yet?
Muse is an excellent choice for a romantic dinner, Sunday lunch or just a cocktail on Friday night. Or when you just can’t be bothered to cook, which tends to happen quite often in our house.
Give them a call, book a table and enjoy delicious food with a stunning sunset over Paphos with your loved ones.
