My Tips: Walking Tours in Sacromonte, Granada
Here are some practical things to consider when you book your Sacromonte walking tour!
WALKING IN SACROMONTE
The area of Sacromonte is further away from the start of most of the walking tours. You will reach it after you climb some hills in Albaicin.
While there are not as many steep hills in Sacromonte, the area is still not flat, so you should be prepared and wear comfortable shoes.
In the summer, it’s essential to bring lots of water with you even if you think it’s just an easy walk.
Most of the streets in Albaicin are ancient cobblestone streets, which are narrow and after rain can get slippery. In Sacromonte, they are more walkable but uneven (unless you stick to the main traffic road).
Remember that traffic passes through both neighbourhoods, so watch out for cars as you walk.
WEATHER CONDITIONS
Most of the tours in this article run in any weather, so keep that in mind when you book.
Luckily they all come with 24 hours cancellation policy, so if you don’t fancy doing the tour in the rain, you can still cancel and get a full refund.
In the summer, Granada tends to be much hotter than the coastal areas so take plenty of water with you for the walk, and a hat will also come in handy.
In the spring and autumn, the average temperatures are enjoyable, but remember that early mornings are still pretty chilly, so take extra layers with you for the walk.
TRAVELLING WITH KIDS
If you think your little ones would enjoy the walk, taking them with you is no issue. Just ensure the tour doesn’t specify that kids under a certain age are not allowed.
If you’re coming to Granada with babies and a pram, beware that the cobblestone streets mainly in Albaicin (which is included in all the tours) are a challenge if your pram has very narrow wheels.
A better option may be taking a baby carrier or a pram with more sturdy bigger wheels.

Southern Spain Travel Planning Guide
Is it safe to drive in Spain?
YES! The roads in Southern Spain are generally in very good condition, with modern highways connecting the biggest cities. To rent a car, I highly recommend Discover Cars, which will get you the best deals on your car rental for your trip.
WHAT IF I DON’T WANT TO DRIVE?
PUBLIC TRANSPORT — Southern Spain has a well-established and modern network of trains and buses. To get the cheapest bus or train tickets, take a look at Omio to find the timetables and prices.
DAY TRIPS — If you don’t like the hassle of using public transport, local travel companies offer many day trip options from almost all the destinations in Southern Spain. You can check them out here.
WHERE SHOULD I BOOK MY ACCOMMODATION?
BOOKING.COM — I have been using booking.com for all my trips in Spain and abroad, and have never had any negative experiences. Their reviews are very accurate and you get the best deals even on apartments, not just hotels.
ARE THERE LUGGAGE STORE OPTIONS IN THE CITIES?
YES — If you would like to leave your luggage behind to explore the city on your last day, before heading to the airport, you can use Radical Storage service, which lets you book luggage storage options in almost all the destinations in Southern Spain.
DO I NEED TO BUY A LOCAL SIM CARD FOR THIS TRIP?
YES – You can, of course, use your own card if you have roaming data available. If you want to avoid surprising extra charges from your operator, you can use a service like Airalo, where you can buy digital packs for e-sim cards, avoiding the hassle of sourcing local physical sim cards and extra roaming charges anywhere you go.
