A little gem hidden on the river banks of Cordoba – I found Almatea Restaurants through Lonely Planet recommendation and the food was so good, that I have returned the next day for another dinner.
The small restaurant has limited seating availability and looks unsuspecting from outside, but it offers a breath-taking pop of colour and personality inside.
The bold colour choices and the attention to detail almost make you feel like Alice in Wonderland. Luckily, the food also lives up to the interior decor standards.
I visited with my family shortly after the lockdown rules were relaxed in summer, and as we normally dine fairly early, we were the first ones in.
The restaurant has an impressive selection of wines to perfectly match your food and short menu focusing on authentic local and Mediteranean cuisine.
I had salmon with grilled vegetables on first night, and second night a seabass, both of which were absolutely delightful.
Here are a few photos from my visit – if you’re in Cordoba, don’t miss this place!
