Gastro Bar Del Mar, Fuengirola

Gastro Bar Del Mar, Fuengirola

The culinary scene in Fuengirola is not something that will at the top of your list when travelling in Costa del Sol, however, there are a few local gems that combine good food, cool decor and relaxed ambiance.

Gastro Bar del Mar (previously known as De Kroon Cafe) happens to be one of them!

It was the first place I spotted when checking out apartments a year ago, and even though I was a little doubtful if it will survive the covid-19 closures, it’s still here.

Now with refreshed look, new management and even brushed up menu, the gastro bar is a very exciting addition to the otherwise boring stretch of the coastal road, famous for tourist traps.

It has branded itself as a Bistro with slight focus on Danish specialties, but they also offer pancakes and some old-fashioned pub food. No matter what sort of fussy eater you are, you will find something that you like.

The service is fast and friendly, food lives up to your expectations (and on my recent visit even exceeded them), the whole vibe with Boho theme combined with traditional Spanish music makes you instantly feel like you arrived to an exotic island. What’s not to like about that?

Location: Ground floor of Stella Marris building, near Mercadona in Los Boliches – Paseo Maritimo Rey de Espana 54

Menu: breakfast (English, Dutch, Rolls..), sandwiches, salads, pancakes, burgers, tapas – also vegetarian friendly

Favourite dish: mozarella sticks, Italian & Ceasar salad
