Higuerón Hotel Curio Collection by Hilton: My Review

Higuerón Hotel Curio Collection by Hilton: My Review

This winter, I had the pleasure of spending a night at the Leiro Suite at the Higueron Hotel Curio Collection by Hilton.

I have written a short recap of my experience so you can have an insider view of what the hotel offers if you’re thinking about booking a room here.

Below is a summary of my stay, followed by photos and finally the details for the hotel if you want to book a room.

Enjoy!

The Hotel

The hotel is located outside of the city center, on a hill overlooking the coastline. Praised for its clean modern design, friendly staff, and five-star service, it offers a luxurious hideaway from the busy city life and coastline.

Unlike other hotels in the city, here you’re pretty much guaranteed amazing views of the sea, plus a beautiful sunset as a bonus.

I picked this hotel because of the unique location, but it’s also the only five-star hotel available in Fuengirola. Luckily, it also delivers on the five-star experience.

The Location

The hotel is conveniently located in the Reserva del Higueron district of Fuengirola, approximately 0.7 miles from Carvajal Beach.

It’s well-situated for those looking to explore the area, with the Miramar Shopping Center being 4.3 miles away.

The nearest airport is Malaga, located about 8.7 miles from the hotel. The property provides shuttle services to the beach, transport stations, and the mall for a fee, adding to the convenience for guests.

Facilities at the Hotel

El Higuerón Hotel boasts a range of accommodations, including king rooms, deluxe rooms with sea views, and various suites, like the one I booked myself. Rooms are equipped with premium bedding, minibars, in-room safes, and are individually furnished, ensuring a comfortable and personalized stay.

The hotel features three swimming pools, including a rooftop infinity pool, free parking, free WiFi, a spa, and family rooms.

There is also a tennis court, a fitness center, and a golf course within two miles of the property. You might say it has the facilities of a small town fitted into one building.

There are two restaurants and a buffet breakfast (with free sparkling wine as a welcome bonus for me!).

The Leiro Suite

I booked one of the most expensive rooms available – the Leiro Suite. I think even for the price, it was excellent value for money as you get a duplex with a private terrace and jacuzzi on the top floor.

In addition to that, there are also other perks you get when staying in the suite, like free access to the circuit at the hotel spa and other benefits.

The reception staff also treated us to a nice gift of gin and tonics, which were promptly enjoyed in the jacuzzi while watching the sun go down.

The suite has the biggest bed I’ve seen in a hotel, it could easily fit four people. The room was extremely spacious and it felt like your own private flat within a hotel.

The terrace with the private jaccuzi of course scored top marks and was one of the reasons why I wanted to upgrade to this type of room.

Photo Tour

Here are some photos from the hotel, I was far too busy enjoying my stay to document every detail, especially the general areas, so forgive me for the lack of photography evidence. =)

My Verdict

Did I like my stay?

That’s an understatement!

Even though the modern design is not my personal preference, I like more intimate boutique hotels, El Higueron is an exceptional place that will make you feel like you never want to leave.

If you want a luxury stay in Fuengirola, spend a little more and instead of a four star hotel you can get a room with service and views that’s hard to forget!

El Higuerón Hotel embodies a blend of luxury and convenience, catering to a wide range of preferences and needs. Whether it’s for relaxation, exploration, or business, this hotel is a compelling choice for anyone visiting Fuengirola.

Practicalities to keep in mind: this hotel is pretty remote with not many things walking distance, so having your own rental car is recommended for exploring the city and beyond.
