La Puerta Verde Restaurant in Fuengirola: My Review

La Puerta Verde Restaurant in Fuengirola: My Review

I’ve got exciting news!

There is a new excellent restaurant on the culinary scene in Fuengirola! And trust me, that doesn’t happen very often.

Our friends visited La Puerta Verde about a week ago, and after their recommendation, I couldn’t wait to test it out myself.

This brand new restaurant is run by a Finnish couple and promises a modern take on traditional tapas, with a bit of a Nordic flair. I have to conclude, that they certainly over-delivered on that promise!

The food is excellent!

The restaurant is very close to Plaza de la Constitution, at Calle Miguel de Cervantes 17.

Hiding behind an unsuspecting door on a narrow street is the culinary artistry of Teemu and Aino. Teemu has over 20 years of experience with the finest restaurants in Finland, complimented by Aino’s culinary expertise in baking and comfort cooking.

The restaurant is not very big, but feels intimate, with nature inspired decor and a simple setting that doesn’t distract from the food experience.

The menu is very short – something you don’t see very often in Fuengirola – and it changes every week. Even though I do not eat meat, there were plenty of exciting options to choose from.

Me and my husband visited in the middle of the week and tasted a bit of everything – homemade bread with butter spread (divine!), Paella bomb (rice infused croquettes), Nordic Taco (with salmon tartare), Patatas Bravas, White Pil Pil soup (this was absolutely amazing!), and Salmon with potato mash.

We also shared a few glasses of wine, water and one dessert – all for around 70 euros for two people. Not a bad price at all considering the quality of the food was comparable to tasting menus in fine dining restaurants.

I left the place feeling extremely excited because I found a new place I will happily return to on many occasions. The food quality is hard to match anywhere in the city and the dishes are presented beautifully – a fine dining experience on a tapas budget, what more could you ask for?

If you’re staying in Fuengirola, you shouldn’t miss this one!

Below is a little food tour and you will find details of the restaurant at the end of the article – enjoy!
