Hotel Vincci Selección Posada del Patio is a five-star hotel in the center of Malaga, a short walk away from the Picasso Museum and around the corner from the municipal market.

It is the first five-star hotel that opened in the city and the only one that hides a real treasure – old city walls hidden under a glass floor dating back to the 5th century (which I conveniently forgot to photograph).

The hotel caught my eye immediately because of the stylish decor, traditional Andalusian patios, and the gorgeous rooftop plunge pool with city views.

With 106 rooms it still maintains a feeling of a boutique hotel where immaculate attention has been paid to each and every corner of the building.

Here is a short review of my stay in the hotel (one night stay in Nov 2020).

Lobby & Reception

As you enter the hotel you are greeted by a lush display of exotic plants in front of you, while on your left you will see the old preserved city walls stretching under your feet.

The lobby is very spacious and beautifully decorated, with wooden decor touches blending seamlessly with the ever-present plants and you almost feel like you arrived somewhere in Bali.

The lobby is designed around the central patio with a seating area right opposite the reception.

After a very warm welcome by the staff, I and my husband were instructed to download the hotel app which would also hold our room key. It was the first time I experienced a truly contact-less hotel check-in.

Bar & Restaurant

The adjacent restaurant of the hotel was not open when we arrived and didn’t get a chance to taste the food, but had a quick peek around the corner at the bar and the seating area.

There is a separate entrance to the restaurant right from the street side and the menu looked pretty impressive.

The breakfast is not served here but in the dedicated breakfast room (scroll to the bottom of the post).

Floor Levels

The hotel has four floors, our room was on the top floor right next to the pool area.

The different floor levels were very spacious and not left forgotten by the interior designer – stylish furniture and art pieces were used throughout these areas.

Our Room

We have upgraded from a standard room to a deluxe as that one came with a terrace to enjoy a bit of the view.

Most of the rooms in the hotel are designed around a single colour featured around the walls, with a statement headboard design, complimented with some natural materials.

The room had an impressive size closet, a very comfortable bed, a simple desk with a chair and a very spacious bathroom.

A Nespresso machine was also provided along with some complimentary water in the otherwise empty minibar.

All the hotel services could be accessed through the app.

The Bathroom

The bathroom was very spacious with plenty of light, a walk-in shower, and a very spacious bath.

The only thing that didn’t make too much sense to me was the see-through glass door at the toilet which was part of the bathroom.

The Rooftop Pool

The rooftop pool opened just as we were leaving so I managed to get a few pictures.

While there is limited space for seating and lounging (especially thanks to covid), the views from here are spectacular.

It’s not really a pool for swimming, more like a quick dip while you enjoy the sun (it’s not very deep or long).

Breakfast

I loved the breakfast room, it felt so cozy and charming with the birch trees hanging over the tables and stylish lighting throughout.

They were just putting out the food as we arrived so we settled for ordering from the menu – the food was delicious!

It felt like a real treat to have the food cooked freshly for you as in other hotels, you could only point to what you want from the buffet from behind a glass and the staff will have to add it to your plate.

There is a huge Nespresso machine with plenty of coffee options and lots to choose from for breakfast.

We stayed behind almost an hour just drinking coffee and the complimentary Cava.

Overall Impressions

The hotel goes definitely to the top of my list for Malaga, having not only a convenient location but also super friendly and attentive staff, stunning design.

Most importantly – free cava at breakfast – who doesn’t love that!
