Is February a Good Month to Visit Malaga?
Let’s get the most important question out of the way: is February a good month to visit Malaga?
Short answer: NO, it is not.
February is one of the coldest and most rainy times of the year. If you want a winter sun destination for this month, Malaga will be a bit of hit and miss.
The weather changes pretty quickly in wintertime, so checking a 10-day weather forecast won’t give you an accurate picture of what to expect when you arrive.
If you’re determined to travel in February, you need to prepare to be a bit flexible regarding the weather and plan some rainy-day activities too.
It’s certainly too cold to spend a day at the beach unless you bring a blanket, and way too cold to swim in the sea too.
The only time I would consider traveling to Malaga in February is if you don’t mind the weather and plan to visit mostly museums or other indoor activities, or you’re happy to book a very last-minute flight when you know the weather 2-3 days in advance.

In February, in addition to more rain and lower temperatures, you can also expect pretty windy days, which will make you feel much colder.
Exploring out all day will not be much fun, unless you’re dressed accordingly and prepared for changes in weather conditions.
If you have some monuments you would like to see, it’s better to plan your visit in the afternoon or noon hours so you get a chance to see them when the temperatures are at their highest.
Cloudy weather is pretty standard in the winter time, and unlike in the spring or summer, the sky is overcast for most of the day.
I have added some tips for packing for your trip below, but one thing I always say is that if you’re staying in an apartment, pack a pair of slippers with you. Most of the flats in Malaga are older buildings with stone floors and no carpets, so your feet feel really cold.

You don’t need any winter hats or gloves, or even super thick sweaters with you. It’s good to have a jacket that you can easily take off and store in a bag if needed, as it can be still pretty warm even in February.
For a stay in a rented apartment, a pair of slippers will be very handy due to the cold stone floors.
Of course, an umbrella is a must if you’re travelling to Malaga in February.
