Tour Reviews

Here is one of the latest verified reviews from the tour company providing this tour.

We had a brilliant day in Granada and Alhambra. The whole trip was well organised and we really enjoyed it. Alhambra is stunning, and I’d recommend it to anyone. To get to go to Granada was an added bonus. It really took the stress out of the day not to worry about how to get there or parking etc. Our guide was informative and gave us lots of information about the area and the history. The Alhambra guide was equally knowledgeable, and passionate about the place.

Alhambra Tours from Malaga Cruise Port

If you’re looking to book a tour from the cruise port, there are no options available, unless you book them with your cruise company as a shore excursion (presuming you’re arriving on a cruise ship).

Your best option is to book this tour with an independent tour operator, and get a local taxi or uber to the pick up location in central Malaga. This would only take about 10 minutes and cost a few euros.

I linked the most popular tour option below.

Tips for Alhambra Visit from Local Expert

Here are some practical tips that will ensure you will have a fabulous day on your tour of Alhambra!

Alhambra Tickets

It is absolutely essential to book this day tour as soon as possible, ideally same time as you confirm your stay in Malaga. This is the most popular tour from Malaga (together with Caminito del Rey) and it sells out weeks in advance.

The day trip option I linked above runs ONLY twice a week, so check your dates early enough to ensure you can get a spot as tickets sell out pretty fast, especially in the summer months.

For the booking, you will need to provide details for the travellers including their date of birth and passport number – the tickets are issued as personal ones and checked against the ID at the entrance, don’t forget to bring your ID with you for this trip.

What to wear in Alhambra

Wear comfortable shoes for exploring Alhambra and the gardens, the complex is pretty big.

Take water with you to keep hydrated, especially in the summer months. There are some vending machines between the Nasrid palace entrance and the Alcazaba courtyard, that’s where the toilets also are.

Alhambra Restrictions

No food is allowed inside the complex, you can have a snack in the courtyard between the Charles V palace and Alcazaba, there is also a small kiosk to buy coffee, drinks and snacks.

No backpacks are allowed inside the Alhambra complex (bigger than 40×40 cm), there are lockers near the vending machines but the number of available ones is pretty limited – please keep this in mind.

Baby prams are also not allowed inside the complex, you will have to leave them in the luggage storage room. Take a baby carrier with you if you’re coming with a baby.
